Full Description

Earthwork remains of two raised platforms are visible at this location within Southrey Wood. A large quantity of slag was noted around the platforms, suggesting a possible metal working connection to the features. {1} Fragments of the slag were taken to the Portable Antiquities Finds Liaison Officer for examination, although few details of their composition or origin could be determined. It was thought that the pieces probably dated from the post-medieval period, but any date from the Roman period onwards was plausible. {2}
