Full Description

A school house built in 1871 from coursed rubble. It has a slate roof and was converted into one dwelling recently [around 1980]. It is considered to be a significant unlisted building within the Conservation Area. {1} The school is not mentioned in White's 1872 Trade Directory entry for the village, but a Miss Annie Louisa Scott is listed as a schoolmistress. {2} The building can be seen in its current plan form in the 1888, 1906 and 1950 OS maps of the village. {3}{4}{5}
