Full Description
Twenty two trial trenches were excavated by Northamptonshire Archaeology in August 2004 on land off Barnack Road, Stamford. Iron Age activity was revealed. In trench one Iron Age pottery was found in a small pit or posthole, in trench six Iron Age pottery and burnt animal bone was found in a small pit or posthole, in trench eight a sherd of Iron Age pottery and prehistoric pottery was found in a ditch, in trench twelve prehistoric pottery including Iron Age pottery was found in a ditch terminal or pit and in trench seventeen Iron Age pottery was found in a post hole. {1}{2}
