Full Description

PRN 25691 A chapel is indicated on the 1905 OS County series map. The society formed in Donington in 1832 and the first chapel opened in 1834 in Church Lane. This chapel still survives and is in use as a classroom (see PRN 25686). The second chapel was built in High Street and opened in 1901. The site was next to a large house and a coach house and they were all purchased together for £530 and incorporated into the site. The house became the home of the minister, the coachouse was converted into the Sunday School, and the new chapel was built by Barnsdale's the builders of Donington. The chapel closed in 1932 on union with the Wesleyan Methodists. In the 1940s the buildings were converted into a car repair garage. In the 1960s the house and former Sunday School were demolished to create access to a new lorry garage behind and in the 1980s the chapel was pulled down to create a forecourt and entry to a new car garage. The site is now abandoned and for sale in 2010.{1}{2}{3}
