Full Description

PRN 25688 This building was a Salvation Army Hall until there ceased to be a Salvation Army presence in Spalding around 2001.{2}{3} It is now in use as a restaurant. It is attached to adjacent buildings to east and west and is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings. It has a gabled roof with a slate covering and ornamental terracotta ridge copings and a finial. The gable verges are ornamented with nailhead and there are ball finials at either side of the gable, and an oculus in the gable above the central doorway with an ashlar surround. The gabled front has three bays of pointed openings. The central doorway has a replaced door, a glazing bar light above, and an ashlar arch with a moulded hoodmould. Two small stones, set to each side of the apex of the arch, are inscribed with a date of 1910. The doorway is flanked by pointed windows with glazing bars, ashlar arches, cills and moulded hoodmoulds.{1}
