Full Description

PRN 25672 The Christadelphian Hall was built in 1908 by J. B. Corby. It is attached to the adjacent building and is constructed of red brick with blue and yellow brick, and stone dressings. The façade is composed of darker brick than the returns. The gabled roof has a slate covering and terracotta ridge copings and a finial. The main street façade is set on a plinth with a capping of blue brick. The projecting central bay has its own gable set at right angles to the main gable with ornamental verges and kneelers and terracotta ridge copings and a finial. The central round-arched doorway has paired doors, with a divided light above, and moulded jambs and arch. The arch has a moulded hoodmould with a row of gault brick on the underside which extends across the bay in a double course as a string-course at impost level. Above the doorway is a round-arched window with glazing bars and radiating spokes in the arch. Like the door below the arch is outlined with gault brick and a second string-course of a double course of gault brick extends across the bay at cill level. The window is dressed with stone imposts and keystone. The keystone extends to the gable verges and contains the date of 1908 and the inscription THE, while the stone imposts extend laterally and bear the inscription BIBLE TRUE. The two lateral bays have tall segmental-arched windows with glazing bars with semi-circular heads. {1}{2}
