Full Description

Cropmarks of a probable enclosure of unknown date, to the south of Candlesby. Visible as three sides of a a triple-ditched rectilinear enclosure, measuring approximately 60m across. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. Human remians and 'ancient armour' (see MLI42184)have previously been found in the same area as this probable enclosure, though any possible association remains unknown. {1} Further cropmarks are visible on aerial photography taken in 1998, with more of the eastern side of the triple-ditched enclosure being visible. Very faint and unconfirmed cropmarks possibly show further ditches, orientated roughly east to west, on the eastern side and possibly leading to the enclosure. {2}
