Full Description

Wesleyan Methodist chapel, depicted at this location on the 2nd edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey County Series map. It is still marked as a chapel on the 1970, 1:10000 Ordnance Survey map. It appears to be part of an Auction Centre in 2010. The former chapel is built of red brick with gault brick dressings. It has a gabled roof with slate covering. The gabled front elevation has a pedimented gable with gault brick verges and pediment with dentil brick. Within the pediment is a stone band inscribed 'Wesleyan Chapel 1868'. The front is divided into three bays by gault brick intermediate and terminal pilasters. The central bay has a gabled porch, constructed of gault brick, with a round-headed doorway with original paired doors and decorative iron hinges. The two lateral bays have blocked round-headed windows with gault brick arches. The side elevations have two bays of round-headed windows with gault brick arches, glazing bars and radiating heads. The rear gable is rendered and has a small gabled annexe. The original iron railings survive. {1}{2}{3}{4}
