Full Description

PRN 48263 A watching brief on land near The Chase was undertaken intermittently between January 2006 and August 2007. During the excavation of footings for a housing development at Plot 10, a pit containing a sherd of late 16th to 18th century pottery and five mid 15th century pottery sherds and a possible ditch, containing six late medieval pottery sherds and a sherd of mid 15th century pottery and three late medieval handmade brick fragments, were found. Within this possible ditch there was also Roman pottery [PRN 48265]. This evidence indicates that there was occupation on this site during the late medieval period. {1}{2}
