Full Description

PRN 65678 A Temperance Hall was built in High Street by Moses Franks MRCS and given to the parish in 1863. The building is marked as a Hall on the 1905 OS County Series Map and on the OS 1:10000 map. In 1919 it was 'used for parish purposes'. It survives and is now Heckington Village Hall. It is built of yellow gault brick with a slate roof. The broad front has five bays. The central recessed section has three bays with a central gabled porch flanked by glazing bar sash windows and has four stepped courses of yellow brick in the eaves cornice. Above the porch is a stone tablet which reads 'Temperance Hall given to this parish by M.Franks. MRCS. 1863'. The western lateral bay has two tiers of glazing bar sash windows and the eastern lateral bay has an upper glazing bar sash window above an original door with four fielded octagonal panels.{1}{2}{3}{4}
