Full Description
PRN 65661
A chapel in High Street became part of the Sleaford Wesleyan Circuit in 1887. Before that it may have belonged to a different denomination and may have been the Baptist chapel (PRN 65660). The Wesleyan chapel closed in 1926. A building on the High Street is known as Chapel Forge. It is a red-brick building with a gabled pantile roof and ashlar and polychrome dressings. An ashlar keystone is inscribed JP with a date which appears to have been originally 1818 but altered to perhaps read 1848. There is no evidence to suggest that this was the chapel building. It may have been a barn, stables, or carriage house, perhaps associated with the chapel which may have stood on the adjoining vacant plot which is designated for development in 2009.{1}{2}
