It is built in Gothic style of red brick with ashlar and blue brick dressings and has a gabled roof with a slate covering, roof vents and ornamental ridge copings with metal finials. The gables are raised with stone copings. The front gable has 3 bays divided by stepped buttresses with stone cappings, which are surmounted by stone pinnacles, and angle buttresses. The central bay has a pointed moulded doorway with a band of blue brick in the arch and a stone hoodmould. It is flanked by small ogee windows with cusped tracery. The outer bays have lancet windows with cusped tracery, saddle bars, and arches with a band of blue brick. Above the central doorway is a course of blue brick and two moulded stringcourses bordering a band of terracotta quatrefoils. Above is a stepped 4-light pointed window with cusped gothic tracery and a small tiangular opening in the apex of the gable which is bordered by blue brick. The rear elevation has a corresponding opening. The side elevations have 6 bays of lancet windows, with cusped tracery and saddle bars, separated by buttresses. The sixth bay of the west elevation is occupied by a lean-to annexe and there is a low gabled annexe to the rear. A foundation stone is dated 1878.{2}{3}{4}{5}
