Full Description

PRN 25560 This is a building identified as of historical interest by the South Holland District Council Local List. It is a good example of this style of building of this period and survives with only a few changes to its original construction. {1} Late 18th early 19th century red brick school with slate roof. Sash windows with yellow brick headers and decrative brickwork all round them, the yellow brick decorations are continued in the quions and string course. {2} White's 1872 Trade Directory states that the Free School was endowed in 1727 by Mary Deacon. It suggested that the current school building was erected in 1842 by the rector, and was attended by 50 pupils, 30 of whom were taught for free. {3}
