Full Description

PRN 25559 This is a building identified as of historical interest by the South Holland District Council Local List. It is a good example of this style of building of this period and survives with only a few changes to its original construction. {1} The Rectory is a large imposing Victorian building, built mainly in red brick with decorative yellow brick quoins. The house is roughly U-shaped with a Collyweston roof. The Rectory has a walled garden leading to the stable yard containing the coach house and other outbuildings. The coach house at the very bottom of the rectory's plot is built from red brick and has a pantile roof. {2}{3} The Old Rectory was originally built in 1854 to the designs of architect Benjamin Ferrey to replace a dwelling with origins dating back to 1606. Built mainly of red brick with yellow brick quoins, the exterior also incorporates decorative sandstone embellishments within the main two facades. The coach house originally had a Collyweston roof which was replaced with pantile in 1982. The original brick headers support the original windows which are still in situ. {3}
