Full Description

This is a building identified as of historical interest by the South Holland District Council Local List. It is a good example of this style of building of this period and survives with only a few changes to its original construction. {1} Myrtle House is a two storey building with a concrete tile roof. The front of the house has been completely rebuilt at some point, not earlier than 1860 but probably closer to 1890 using the windows as an indicator of date. The building is of three bays and has a central doorway and a blocked up passage door, with the current doorway having been inserted after the frontage was rebuilt. The blocked up passageway could indicate that this was at some point a shop with the main entrance to the living accomodation off this passageway. This would have made the shop a self contained unit where the inserted bay window is now. {2}
