Full Description

A late 18th century, red brick, house with an attached barn to rear, which was altered in the mid 19th century. It has a hipped pantile roof with a single hip stack and two large ridge stacks to rear. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} The building was briefly inspected in September 1994, during archaeological monitoring of the construction of new housing at Manor Farm. The former farmhouse had been used as a public house for some years, when it had been called 'The Black Swan'. It was being converted to be used as a hotel at the time of the monitoring, with the attached barn also being converted be used as guest rooms. Some of the original 18th century fireplaces within the former fireplaces were exposed during the restorations. {2}{3}
