Full Description

PRN 38840 [Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.] This house probably originated as a timber framed building with a jetty to the street front, however it was faced in ashlar stone in the late 18th or early 19th century. In 1848 a shop front was installed by the architect Charles Richardson. Behind the house is a bake house also dating to around 1848, and there is also an early 19th century brick rear wing with a lean-to roof. The interior includes a stone fireplace and a panelled room, both probably dating to around 1800. {1} This two storey house with attics dates to the mid 17th century and has a good late 18th century shop front [these dates are probably incorrect - see above] and a passage arch. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
