Full Description

PRN 38662 Fryers' Callis is dated 1833 and was built by the architect George Basevi in a Perpendicular style. It is a single storey building constructed of coursed stone. It has a stone slate roof with paired and single stone stacks. The building contains six dwellings and there are two gate piers with panels with cusped lancet heads and pyramidal caps. It provided accomodation for six poor widows who were housed in single rooms accessible from shared lobbies. The entrance arrangement has recently been altered. The main elevation is in Tudor style, and there are several coats of arms on various parts of the building as well as an inscription recording the architect. {2}{3}{4}
