Full Description

PRN 38658 [Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.] This house was built between 1784 and 1788 for Joseph Robinson, miller, to designs by William Legg. It has an unconventional building plan and its building-sequence is obscure. It was refitted in the early 19th century however the interior retains some late 18th century features as well as 19th century fittings (see source for further details). The garden includes a reset 15th century stone doorway incorporated into the brick garden wall, and a single span stone bridge. {1} This large rambling stone house is said to date to the 17th and 18th centuries [this is probably incorrect - see above]. Its main front faces the garden. The street front has a two storey oriel window with garage doors beneath. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
