PRN 38648 This house has a front dating to 1797 on an earlier rear wing and is an enlargement of a 17th century house. It is three storeys high and constructed of dressed rubble with a slate roof. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} This house, which was formerly the Coach and Horses inn, originated as a 17th century L-shaped single storey building. In 1797 substantial alterations including a new stone street front were carried out by the new tenant George Betts under instructions from the landlord, the Earl of Exeter. The rear range contained stables and kitchens in 1797 but was raised in height and turned to domestic use in the 19th century. The interior includes a plaster floor in one first floor room. {2}
