Full Description

Grade II listed infants school and schoolmaster's house, dating from 1871 and enlarged in 1894. They are rockfaced ironstone ashlar with ashlar quoins and dressings and have stone coped slate roofs with kneelers and lead ball finials. For the full description of this listed building please refer to the National Heritage List for England. {1} White's 1872 Trade Directory states that the buildings were erected at a cost of about £1000, paid for in part by subscriptions, with £725 contributed by the Duke of Rutland. {2} The building is shown in its current plan form on the 1904 OS map of Woolsthorpe. {3}
