[Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.]
This house was formerly two houses. The north-western one, of two storeys, is the earliest and may date to the 17th century. It has a rear wing and a timber framed stair turret, and was refronted in ashlar stone in the late 18th century. The roof over the rear wing has clasped purlin beams and is probably 17th century. The south-eastern section is later, dating from the early 19th century. It is three storeys in height and has an ashlar stone street front. At the rear is a detached three storey stable and granary building. {1}
The southernmost section of this house, which was formerly two houses, dates to the late 18th century [this is probably incorrect - see above] whilst the northern section is of 17th century date.
