Above the archway on the left of the property is a sign 'Wilkins' Place'. The archway now simply provides access to the rear of no.84 but early OS maps show a yard with around a dozen separate small dwellings built within what was an extensive burgage plot stretching back from the street. These dwellings were typical of the early 19th century and survived until at least around the 1930s. {3}
