Full Description

PRN 38394 A modern brick wall contains a 14th century stone archway. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} This medieval doorway is reset in the wall of 9 Castle Cottages. It is probably late 14th century. {2}{3} It has been suggested that this was perhaps a postern gate of the castle, however there is no firm evidence for this. It was described in 1896 as being located on the south side of All Saints Street near St Peter's Callis and is now reset in a modern wall. {3}
