Full Description
PRN 38373
[Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.]
This two storey timber framed house is probably of 16th century date. The street front is jettied and has the remains of an early 19th century shop front. The interior walls have mostly been removed, however an original close-studded cross-partition on the first floor remains. {1}
This house has a similar build to no. 8 and is early 17th century [this is probably incorrect - see above]. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
This house forms a terrace with no. 8 and keeps the same level as it, although the present street level rises therefore the internal floor is 24 inches below the current street level. The street front has a full length jetty and exposed timber framing on the upper floor. The interior has been largely reconstructed and the roof has been modernised. {4}
