This house is of the same build as no. 6 (PRN 38649) and is of 15th century origin. It has been newly reroofed and refronted with imitation timber framing. It also has a modern shop front. This house is part of one large and probably important 15th century timber framed building (with no. 6) which may have been a guildhall. It is jettied on the north and south sides, although the south side has been underbuilt. A stone front was added on the east in the 18th century and later shop fronts have replaced much of the north wall. Much of the medieval timber structure remains inside along with the crown post roof. The cellar contains some medieval stonework. {2}
It is difficult to tell original timber framing from the later restoration work in this building. {3}
