Full Description

PRN 37845 [Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.] This house is probably of late 16th century date, but with later alterations. It was originally timber framed throughout with jetties, however the street front was cased in stone in the early 19th century. It has a three storey main range with a two storey rear wing which was extended in coursed rubble in the 17th century, and again in brick in the early 19th century. The street front has a long early 19th century shop front. The interior includes early roof beams as well as later fittings such as an early 18th century bolection moulded overmantel. {1} This type of building was often originally used as a shop with accommodation above. {2} This building dates to the late 18th century [this date is probably incorrect - see above]. It is three storeys in height and is rendered with a Welsh slate roof. It has a good early 19th century shop front. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {3}
