Full Description

PRN 37661 [Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.] This house was originally timber framed and may have an early 17th century origin although later alterations have obscured its development. The 17th century building was described as having a hall, parlour and chambers and presumably survives within the present structure. It was refitted in the 18th century when the east section was rebuilt and heightened. A kitchen wing was added around 1800 and other alterations were carried out later. The timber framed and stone walls are now plastered. The interior includes an 18th century fireplace in the east block. {1} This two storey house is of two builds, both probably 18th century [this date may be incorrect - see above]. The left-hand section is taller and has a steep roof. The right-hand section has an early 19th century door surround. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
