[Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.]
This house is of 17th century origin although it was remodelled in the 18th century, probably by William Clarke, a mason, who resided there from 1743 until 1786. The interior includes a 17th cross beam in the rear wing, and a variety of 18th century fittings including panelling. {1}
This two storey ashlar stone house dates to the mid 18th century [this is probably incorrect - see above]. It has a modern shop front inserted into the ground floor. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
