Full Description

PRN 37631 [Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.] This house incorporates part of the roof of an open hall at right angles to the street which may be 15th century. The present appearance of the building is the result of extensive alterations carried out in the late 18th century. The two full height bay windows were added at this time and were accused of encroaching on the street. The main range was originally timber framed but has been partly refaced in stone. The heavily smoke-blackened medieval roof extends over the south end of the rear wing. The rest of the roof is probably 16th or 17th century. {1} This two storey painted stone house dates to the 18th century [this date is probably incorrect - see above]. It has two two-storey bay windows flanking a central door. There is another 19th century door on the first floor, over the main door, occupying a window opening. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
