Full Description

Grade II* listed obelisk, dating from 1847 and probably by William Burn. It is ashlar, sandstone and limestone. The obelisk stands on two deep steps and has a square base with a scrolled plinth and cornice. In the east side is a square slate panel with a moulded ashlar surround, recording that it was built in 1847 by Charles Turnor, Prebendary of Lincoln, in honour of Sir Isaac Newton who was born nearby at Woolsthorpe Manor.
