[Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.]
This house has a front range which dates to around 1700, but the rear wing is earlier and was originally timber framed. It was encased or replaced in stone in the 17th century and has blocked mullion windows. There are also blocked mullion windows in the basement of the front range. The main door has a moulded surround with projecting hood and pediment supported on elaborately carved brackets which date to around 1700. In front of the house is a low wall with 18th century wrought iron railings. The interior includes many features dating from the first half of the 18th century including a staircase and panelled rooms. {1}
This is a fine late 17th century house [see above for detailed dates] of two storeys with basement and attics. It is constructed of coursed rubble with one side rendered, and has a slate roof. There are original wrought iron railings on a small stone wall in front of the house.
