Full Description

PRN 37238 This building originally comprised two houses. The roof construction of the east section suggests a late 17th or early 18th century origin. It was rebuilt or refaced in the early 19th century, shortly before it was amalgamated with the smaller western building which then had its front elevation rebuilt to form a unity with the east section. These alterations may be associated with the building's conversion to a bank after 1810. It remained in use as a bank until the late 19th century. The interior has been much altered but retains a marble fireplace dating to around 1800 and a decorative plaster cornice dating to around 1830. {1} This two storey ashlar stone building with attics dates to the mid 18th century [this date is probably incorrect - see above]. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2} It is now an office. {3}
