Full Description

PRN 37199 This house dates from the early 18th century and is one building which has been divided. It is two storeys in height and built of ashlar with a slate roof with three dormers. It supports one side of the sign for the George Hotel (PRN 37885). No. 8 has a 28-paned bow window on the ground floor, no. 9 has a mid 19th century shop front and no. 10 has a slightly bowed shop window. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} This house dates from the early 18th century and comprises three tenements. The interior has been mostly destroyed by later shops but it retains some remains of early fireplaces. {2} The great central firestack in nos. 8 and 9 suggests an earlier building, however the plan reveals no other early features and it is clear it has been entirely rebuilt. {4}
