Full Description

PRN 37184 [Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.] This house is of 17th century origin and was part of a single house with no. 5 (PRN 37887) which has a datestone of 1658. It was largely rebuilt in 1849 in the Jacobean style by Edward Browning, as part of the work associated with the new Town Bridge. It also incorporates in its south wall the gable wall of a former house of probable 18th century date. {1} This house dates to 1849 [although it has an earlier origin - see above] and was designed by Edward Browning. It is two storeys in height and built of small coursed rubble with a slate Mansard roof with elaborately moulded Dutch gables. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
