Full Description

Two grade II listed cottages, now a single cottage, dating from 1793 and altered in the 20th century. It is possibly timber framed encased in rendered brick and has a thatched roof with two 20th century gable stacks. There is a lozenge ashlar plaque above the doorway to No.45, inscribed 1793 and with illegible initials. For the full description of this listed building please refer to the National Heritage List for England. {1} A programme of building recording was undertaken in 2008, during the re-thatching of the roof at 45 North Street, Crowland. The building was built in 1793, of brick, but perhaps masking a timber-frame. The roof of this building is a simple collar rafter type, constructed in oak, with the collar also providing support for the ceilings of the first floor rooms. {2}{3}
