Full Description
Mid 18th century house, which was refronted in 1805, and has later 19th century alterations. Constructed of red brick, and features a hipped, slate roof with large chimney stack to the rear. The building is of two and a half storeys, and has a three-bay front with ashlar plinth, first floor band and second floor sill band. The single central bay projects slightly and is topped with a pediment with datestone inscribed '1805'. The central doorway with open doric porch has reeded and fluted columns and pilasters, and an entablature decorated with small pendants on an open pediment and partially glazed door. Single mid 19th century canted bay windows flank the doorway, each with three plain sashes. Above the doorway is a semi-circular headed window with plain sash, which is flanked by single plain sashes. Above, a single central semi-circular headed casement is flanked by single two-light casements. The first and second floor outer windows have flush brick wedge lintels. Attached to the left is a mid 19th century wing, slightly set back with a flat roof and with first floor band, second floor sill band and cornice. The wing is also of two and a half storeys, and is of a single bay. It has a canted bay window with three plain sashes on the ground floor. Above is a single plain sash, with a now blocked single former window above that, both with flush wedge lintels. Observations on the historical significance of the building were made during a site visit conducted in August 2026, done to inform proposed internal alterations. The building is a mid 18th century house, though was refronted in a Georgian/Regency style in 1805. {3}
