Full Description
PRN 25328
The former chapel was visited in 2010. It is now in use as a house. It was built in 1835 but closed in 1994, apparently because the front was unsafe. It was subsequently sold and converted to use as a house. The congregation continued to hold monthly united services in the former Anglican Mission Hall. It is built of red brick with a hipped roof which now has a slate covering. The east elevation has a round-headed doorway with paired doors and a plain divided light above. Above is a rectangular date tablet which is no longer easily readable but was painted 'Primitive Methodist 1835'. The north elevation has a single segmental-headed glazing bar sash window and an attached gabled annexe which existed prior to conversion and probably represents the schoolroom added in about 1890. The west elevation has two tall round-headed windows which were already blocked at the time of the listing in 1987. Modern annexes and a conservatory have been added.
