Full Description
House dating from the 14th and 15th centuries, with mid 17th century additions, and altered c.1760 and in the 19th century. C.E.P. Charlesworth, the local pioneer in the treatment of mental conditions, lived here between 1820 and 1834. The house is built of dressed stone and coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, and features plain tile roofs with chamfered eaves, and single gable, ridge and side wall brick chimney stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan form, and is of two storeys, with a three-bay western front. The interior has a first floor room with 17th century framed panelling and window seats. From c.1400 until c.1726, this building formed a single property with 5 Pottergate.
