Full Description

Grade II listed incomplete statue of George III, dating from 1810. It was designed by Mrs Coade and modelled by Joseph Panzetta for the Earl of Buckingham. It is made from coade stone and is larger than life size. It is the remains of a statue placed on Dunston Pillar in 1810 to replace the lantern. The statue was resited and the pillar reduced in height during the Second World War, because of danger to low flying aircraft.
