For the full description of this listed building please refer to the National Heritage List for England. {1} The Judges Lodgings are found on Castle Hill, Lincoln, to the east of Lincoln Castle. In 1809, the Grand Jury for the County of Lincoln decided to build accommodation for His Majesty's Judges. Construction work was completed in the summer of 1812. The adjacent garden was completed between 1817 and 1832, and a small extension was added to the west side of the building around the same time. Between 1957 and 1959, major repair work was undertaken on the Lodgings, which involved demolishing and rebuilding the rear portion of the building, as it had settled and was in dangerous condition. The Judges Lodgings were listed at grade II* in 1953. {2}
