Full Description

St Margaret's Church dates to 1733 with some later additions. Built in Inigo Jones revival style. The bellcote replaced a Victorian one in 1970. {1} A parish church built in 1733 in the form of a Palladian Temple on a direct axis to the front door of Well Vale House. It underwent alterations in the late 18th century and was restored in 1959. It had been constructed of red brick in English bond and has painted ashlar dressings and stucco. It also has a Westmoreland slate roof with lead dressings and a boarded bell cupola, with shaped felted dome, dating from the restoration.
