Full Description

There was a hotel known as the New Inn on the same sat, which ran from at least 1808. The building of Hildred's Hotel in the following description dates from 1897. The architect was A. Coke Hill. The building was constructed of red brick and had a double-hipped and valley slate roof with a centre pediment to moulded eaves and ridge chimney stacks. The building was listed in 1976 and delisted in 1989 after it was demolished in 1987 to make way for a shopping centre. {1}{2}
