Two round tower bases of the original castle, built in c.1230 by Robert de Tatershal. The bases are built of ashlar, repaired in brick, and are to either side of the 15th century tower. The left hand one is a fragment only, but the right hand one is a circle, with an approximate internal diameter of twelve feet, which stands four feet within the moat.
