Full Description

A house dating from 1718 which was altered and extended in the c.1810. It was constructed of red brick with painted stucco dressings and has a slate roof with stone coped gables and two gable stacks. To the right hand side of the front is an inscribed painted stone "Built by Captain John Sapfford 1718" placed over a ground floor window and over the side door a fire insurance plaque. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of U plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings.
