Full Description

Late 18th century urn and pedestal, constructed of limestone ashlar. The urn sits on a square pedestal with a stepped top, and is decorated with linen swags, wreaths and a band of acanthus leaves with a paterae and domed top. On the east side is an oval cartouche containing an inscription recording John Nelthorpe of Little Grimsby Hall. The urn and pedestal stand on a stone platform which incorporates two late 18th century recumbent slabs to the members of the Nelthorpe family covering a vault beneath.
