Full Description

A public house dating from the late 18th century which underwent alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is rendered and has a pantile roof with brick coped gables and stacks. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} There might have been an inn or tavern in the same location since the 16th century. Wormgate, wehre the public house is located, would have been an importat thoroughfare from the barges at the sluice to the Market Place. The public house continues to operate and is known as Goodbarns Yard and some of the original post and beam construction can be seen in the ground floor interior. It has had other names in the past, including "Dog and duck" and "Wormgate Tavern". {2}
