Full Description

A public house dating from the 18th century which underwent alterations in the early 19th century. It was constructed of render and has a pantile roof with brick coped gables. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} The building has a brick structure which possibly encases an earlier timber fabric. It is two storeys high with an attic; the pitched pantile roof has a brick chimney stack and a dormer window to the front elevation. The grounf floor front elevation has, from left to right, two sash windows, a doorway and a further sash window. The first floor front elevation has three large sash windows. Earlier names given to the public house include Martha's Vineyard and Rum Puncheon; the public house is on the site of an earlier inn known as The Bell. {2}
