Full Description
A medieval hall, now shop, built in the early 15th century which underwent alterations in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. It is a timber frame building and has and 18th century brick infill, rendered front and pantile roof. The building had also been a public house for over a century. It was recorded as being a public house as early as 1794, in a auction sale notice where it was described as having a yard, stables and outubildings. {2}{3} The public house licensed it held was not renewed in 1918, and the building had been vacant since April 1917. {4} A 1919 advert for a grocery shop in the location of the old Rodney & Hood confirms the closure of the public house and change in use. {5}
