Full Description

Gravestone dating from 1727, in the churchyard of the Church of All Saints, Benington. Made from limestone ashlar, and takes the form of a segmental headed stone with scrolled oval inscription panel surmounted by winged cherub, beneath which is a circular hole for supporting post, now removed. The gravestone is inscribed to Mr. Wm. Purrill, Shopkeeper of this Parish, d.1727, recording his endowment of the Almshouses which are north of the Church, and also a School.
